An engineering leader at Sardine put a number on it for me: "the dashboard team is of seven engineers, 50 to 60% of the time goes to these customer requests." At Razorpay the version was shorter. Customers "have to wait, like, for two, three days to get this simple report." If you run product or engineering at a B2B SaaS company, you know this week. A customer asks for a breakdown the UI does not have. Someone writes SQL, someone pastes it into a spreadsheet, and next month the same customer asks again with one more column.
This is my list of the best customer-facing dashboard tools for B2B SaaS in 2026. I run Gigacatalyst, so I have a stake here, and I say plainly below where Metabase or Luzmo is the better buy.
What these tools are
A customer-facing dashboard tool takes data about one customer and shows it to that customer, inside your product, under your brand, without them ever seeing anyone else's rows. Everything else is how each tool gets there.
How to judge them
Six things decide whether a tool works for a SaaS company rather than an internal analytics team.
- Tenant isolation and permissions. Can customer A ever see customer B's rows, and does the tool fail closed if a filter is missing?
- Reads your APIs or needs a warehouse. Most BI tools want a SQL database. If your customer data lives behind your product's APIs, you are signing up for a sync pipeline before the first chart.
- Cost per end customer. Per-viewer pricing is fine for 40 customers and painful for 4,000.
- Self-serve for the customer. Can the customer change a filter or build their own view, or does every change come back to your team?
- AI querying. Can the customer ask a question in plain words and get a chart?
- MCP. Can your team drive the tool from Claude, Cursor or Codex? I keep a separate list of app builders and analytics tools with an MCP server.
Side by side
| Tool | Data source | Tenant isolation | Cost per end customer (as of September 2026) | Customer self-serve | AI querying | MCP server |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gigacatalyst | Your product's own APIs | Your product's permissions | Quoted per deployment | Requests, within your API scope | Request to report, not chat | Not for dashboards today |

The tools, ranked
1. Gigacatalyst
Gigacatalyst turns a customer request (a spreadsheet report, a dashboard ask, a call transcript) into a working dashboard or report that runs on your product's own APIs and permissions. There is no warehouse copy. It only calls the APIs you approve, so it cannot show a number your product does not have. A sales engineering lead at Wrike summed it up as "it mimics the UI, and then it uses the API," which is about right.
Where it fits: a SaaS team whose customer data lives behind product APIs, and whose product or CS team is the one fielding the requests. The customer keeps the dashboard when they go live because it is the real product, not a copy. Our dashboards, analytics and BI page shows the shape of it; the walkthrough on adding customer-facing dashboards to a SaaS product covers the build.
Where it does not fit: a self-hosted BI warehouse tool, or a general internal-tool builder for your ops team. Pricing is quoted per deployment with a pilot, so start at /contact. We are a young Y Combinator company, the data path goes through our platform, and you will need to run us through security review.
2. Metabase embedded
Metabase is open-source BI you point at a SQL database. Pro ($575 a month, 10 users included, $12 per extra user as of September 2026, https://www.metabase.com/pricing/) adds row and column security, SSO and multi-tenant embedding. Guest embeds with signed JWTs cost nothing per viewer, which is the honest reason Metabase sits inside so many SaaS products.
Two caveats from Metabase's own docs. Row and column security cannot apply to SQL questions, and groups with native SQL access bypass it. And once embedded users authenticate through SSO, they count as billed users; one third-party estimate puts 500 authenticated embedded users at about $6,455 a month at list. Support is the lowest rated category on GetApp at 3.9 out of 5. If you are weighing it, I wrote up Metabase alternatives separately.
3. Luzmo
Luzmo is a cloud embedded analytics platform with a drag-and-drop editor, white-label included, and Luzmo IQ for plain-language questions. One plan, All-in, "starting at €1,995/month (billed annually)" as of September 2026, metered on monthly active users and AI conversations (https://www.luzmo.com/pricing). Tenant scoping is done with server-side embed tokens and parameter overrides.
Capterra reviewers (4.6 of 5, 26 reviews) like how easy it is to embed and rate support highly. The complaints: "Fastest data refresh time we got was 24h (daily)" on cached sources, no second y-axis, and the entry cost. There is no self-hosted option, and although it has REST "plugins," its home turf is a warehouse. See Metabase vs Luzmo for the head to head.
4. Embeddable
Embeddable is a developer toolkit: your engineers define Cube data models and React components in your repo, product people assemble dashboards in a hosted builder, and it embeds as a web component, not an iframe. Security filters fail closed if they cannot apply, which I like. Pricing is a flat monthly subscription with unlimited users, views and dashboards, but the number is not published (https://embeddable.com/pricing).
The trade: you need a frontend engineer and a data engineer before anyone non-technical can build. It is databases only, with no REST source, and your database carries the query load. No self-hosting; managed US and EU regions only.
5. Sisense
Sisense is enterprise BI with a Compose SDK for React, Vue and Angular, self-hosting on Linux, 200+ connectors and Simply Ask for natural language. It is the pick when a regulated enterprise wants deep customization and has a data team. Prices are not published (https://www.sisense.com/pricing/); Vendr's marketplace data, which I cannot verify, shows a median of $56,831 a year across 126 purchases. GetApp reviewers (4.5 of 5, 378 reviews) call the dashboard builder "probably the most user-friendly," and also report "frequent bugs" and costs that "escalate rapidly across multiple vectors."
6. Retool, used as a customer portal
Retool is an internal tool builder that added Portals and embed SDKs. It reads REST and GraphQL APIs directly, ahead of the BI tools on that axis. External users on Business are the first 50 free, then $8 per user per month annual from 51 to 250, sliding to $4 at 500 and up, as of September 2026 (https://retool.com/pricing). Permissions are group based with no row-level data policies; you scope inside each query. One customer on the Retool forum noted a portal that only shows purchase info "costs $8 per user monthly." For the full category I keep a list of internal tool builders for customer-facing apps.
7. Explo
Explo was a well-liked hosted embedded analytics tool; G2 ranked it first for usability among 40 embedded BI vendors in Summer 2025. Omni acquired it on 2025-10-22 and is migrating customers over 12 months. The pricing page returns a 404, and I would not start a new build on it. If you are already on it, the Explo alternatives page covers the exit.
When Metabase or Luzmo is the better pick
If your customer data already sits in Postgres or Snowflake, you have engineers who are fine with self-hosting, and most viewers can be guests rather than named users, Metabase costs less than anything else here. A founder at Confident LIMS told me, "In general, I'm pretty happy with Metabase, honestly."
If you want a no-code editor your product manager can run, white-label from day one, an AI analyst live within weeks, and you can absorb a roughly €2,000 a month floor, Luzmo is the more polished path.
Gigacatalyst is the better pick when the data is behind your APIs, when the people fielding requests are product or CS rather than a data team, and when you need the customer to keep the result at go-live.
The objection you already have
"The danger is that you show the customer something that is not there." That is a sales engineering lead at Wrike, and it is the right worry. Our answer is structural: Gigacatalyst only calls your approved APIs, so if the endpoint does not return it, the chart cannot show it. A product leader at Klue asked for "some sort of a permission system where the capabilities would be predefined and then the app builder can only operate within those bounds." That is the model.
The second objection is security. "I can't afford to introduce a subprocessor," an engineering leader at Chronus told me. Fair. We are a subprocessor, and we document exactly what we do with your data at /trust. If your security team says no, self-hosted Metabase is the honest alternative.
Next step
Send us one real customer request (a spreadsheet, a ticket, a transcript) and your API docs. We build it on your APIs; you decide. See it on your own APIs.
Questions people ask
What is the best customer-facing dashboard tool for a B2B SaaS company? It depends on where the data lives. If it is in a SQL warehouse, Metabase or Luzmo. If it is behind your product's APIs and product or CS owns the requests, Gigacatalyst.
Do I need a data warehouse for customer-facing dashboards? With Metabase, Luzmo, Embeddable, Sisense and Explo, yes, they connect to databases. Retool and Gigacatalyst can read REST APIs directly, so you skip the sync pipeline.
How much does embedded analytics cost per customer? As of September 2026, Metabase Pro is $575 a month plus $12 per authenticated user, with free guest embeds. Luzmo starts at €1,995 a month metered on active users. Retool charges $8 per external user per month after the first 50. Embeddable, Sisense and Gigacatalyst quote per deployment.
Is Explo still a safe choice in 2026? No for a new build. Omni acquired Explo in October 2025 and is migrating customers over 12 months. Existing contracts run to their end date.
Which of these tools has an MCP server? Metabase (built in, OAuth), Luzmo (hosted), and Retool (public beta). Sisense markets one without published terms. Embeddable, Explo and Gigacatalyst's dashboard product do not have one today.
